New Discoveries

I discovered 2 new things about the Prince:
(1) He can speed-read.
(2) He enjoys having ambience around certain things he does.

(1) Speed-reading: Prince has a 'Countdown to Bedtime' book which features 10 sheeps and their wishes before they all go to bed. Every night when either me or his Daddy reads him the book, it is a challenge for us to read out the lines on each page before The Prince flips the page. It is as though he has silently finished reading the lines, and impatiently wants to flip until the last page. On the last page he will point out the 10 sleeping sheeps to me/ Daddy, one by one. As if he was telling us: "There, I told you, the 10 sheeps are sleeping. Why did you take so long and so many pages just to tell me that?"

(2) I managed to brush his teeth for 3 days consecutively!! All because I gave him some ambience with running water. Think, 5 star resort with an open bathroom, facing a waterfall while brush our teeth; except this is a more cheapo version. The Prince allows me to brush his teeth while sitting at the edge of our basin, with his feet under the running tap water. If I turn off the tap (ask my Hubby, he knows I cannot stand the sight of seeing water being wasted), he'll resist and only resume opening his mouth when the water comes on again.

Besides this, our Prince likes to sleep with his door closed. If the Prince is drinking his milk, just before he sleeps, and any one of us walk out of the bedroom without shutting the door completely, the Prince will get off the bed to close the door. Only then will he resume finishing his milk. He likes his privacy, I guess.

Quick look @ what we did over the weekend:
~SATURDAY 18th MARCH~
1. Hubby finally managed to reach the management office early enough to get fish food to feed the fishes down at the Koi pond. (I feel it's becoming more like 'Koi & Lou Han' pond because of the different type of fishes thrown in there.)
2. Found Aidan a set of sunglasses he can call his own - his Daddy's old Bolle which he enjoyed wearing every much.

3. Prince had his first formal video conferencing with his Grandparents who are staying in Malaysia.

4. Managed to do lunch, deliver 3 bags of old clothes to the Salvation army, buy an extra educational poster for the Prince, repair the heel of my shoes (got nicknamed 'Jurong West' because my shoes says 'JWest'??!!!); drive to 2 supermarkets (thanks to NTUC, which didn't carry 3 items on my shopping list).
5. Prepared dinner for both the Prince and the adults. Er, easy stuff lah, pasta sauce for the Prince and pizza for us.

~SUNDAY 19th MARCH~
1. Ate leftover pizza for breakfast.
2. Missed zoo trip because we will only get to spend an hour max before we have to return home for Prince to take his nap.
3. Made it up to the Prince by going to FARMART. (only this time, did I realised that the name means 'Farm' mart after reading its Chinese name. I had always thought it is 'Far' mart because it is situated in Ulu Choa Chu Kang. By the way, I live in Choa Chu Kang as well.)
4. Used the last $2 from Daddy's wallet for animal feed, $1 went to the goats, another $1 went to the rabbits & guinea pigs. As much as we were excited to see how Aidan reacts to the 'Feed-the-animals' experience, he was very much interested in the most unimaginable creatures at the farm: Tortoises. So we had 2 bored parents, standing next to the Prince, while he kept pointing and bending down to watch the tortoises. My guess is it was easier to follow their movements, because they hardly moved at all!!

5. Daddy ordered Watermelon Juice from the drinks stall, forgetting that we were penniless. After rummaging through the car in vain, he sheepishly told the shopowner he didn't have enough money. Luckily the owners were nice and Auntie said in Mandarin: "Never mind lah, take it as a token of friendship'.
6. Skipped morning nap to put up 'Wallies' in the Prince's room. The Prince loved them, he chose the Balls theme for the wallpaper while Mummy insisted to buy a Suzy Zoo collection. Thank god we have 3 empty walls, so Prince has his Balls on 2 sides, and the Suzy animals are on one other side.

7.Visited Mitsubishi car showroom, test drove the Grandis. 'Clever' Mummy pressed the Milo machine without putting a cup under the dispenser. The boy next to me remarked: "You didn't put in the cup!", and shot me a look. Boy, he sure knows how to make an adult feel stupid.
8. Both parents struggled to put the Prince down for his noon nap to no avail. In the end, Mummy collapsed onto bed out of exhaustion, and Daddy had to bring the Prince down to his toys. After which, grumbled that 'lucky me' got to nap while he was kept awake entertaining the Prince downstairs.

Challenge for next week: To single-handedly bring an active toddler for a plane ride, to visit his Grandparents in Malaysia. Thank goodness it is only a 45 minutes ride.
